The Doula Oath

I solemnly pledge my personal support and dedication to new mothers and their families. I will strive diligently to assist women in their transitions from womanhood to motherhood in order to promote healthy infants and strong families.

Where there is fear, I will comfort
Where there is despair, I will bring hope.
Where there is misunderstanding, I will advise.
Where there is difficulty, I will be an advocate.
Where there is loneliness, I will be a friend and
Where there is reluctance, I will encourage.

I recognize the confidential nature of my profession and promise to uphold high ethical standards in the performance of my duty, I will remain loyal to the philosophy of doula care and do all in my power to ensure its success.
